Maison Ferrand Provides WSET Spirit Awards During Covid-19 Pandemic
Maison Ferrand went above and beyond as a supplier by providing the opportunity for distribution partners in the Caribbean to obtain a globally recognized qualification in spirits education.
In recognition of the partnership formed between WIRSPA (West Indies Rum & Spirits Producers’ Association) and Wine and Spirit Education Trust in July of 2020, Maison Ferrand decided to offer 50 online courses to Caribbean mixologists, bartenders and other hospitality professionals with ties to Stansfeld Scott who had been adversely affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.
Stansfeld Scott reached out to select members from their distribution partners in Barbados, Bahamas, Bermuda, British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, Jamaica, St Maarten, Trinidad to complete the Wine and Spirit Education Trust (WSET) Level 1 Award in Spirits.
WSET Level 1 award in Spirits is a beginner level qualification whereby participants learn the basic principles of spirit production, the main types and styles of spirits, how to serve spirits, factors affecting the flavour of spirits, and how to describe spirits using the WSET Level 1 Systematic Approach to Tasting Spirits®.
The online WSET education certifications provided by Maison Ferrand and coordinated through Stansfeld Scott allowed participants to feel empowered at a time of change and uncertainty, and the insight gained during the course will help everyone excel in their distinctive areas as markets re-open.
